May 6th Lunch-n-Learn meeting featuring Dan Rice from PrairieLand Dairy

DanRiceJoin us for the upcoming Lunch-n-Learn Meeting of the Nebraska Agribusiness Club on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road in Lincoln. Directions here.

The May meeting will feature Dan Rice from PrairieLand Dairy. Dan will be talking about his role at the dairy, the future direction and plans for the business, and briefly talking about A2 milk casing. Buffet lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:20 p.m. Meeting registration, which includes lunch, is $10 per person (unless you have already paid for the inclusive membership).

Club learns about genomics, GeneSEEK in Lincoln

Club members and guests heard from Abraham Oommen at the April Lunch -n-Learn meeting. Oommen is a co-founder of GeneSEEK. GeneSeek provides comprehensive agrigenomic and veterinary diagnostic solutions and services for the agricultural biotechnology industry.

Since 1998, GeneSeek has assisted customers spanning the genotyping continuum from research and development to focused genetic markers. GeneSeek provides customers with the services and expertise to assist in areas such as SNP profiling, marker assisted selection (MAS), disease diagnostics, and identity management. Award nomination forms available, due July 15

The Nebraska Agribusiness Club would like to announce that nomination application forms for the Public Service to Agriculture and New Horizon awards are now available.

The Public Service to Agriculture award has been presented annually since 1967.  The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Nebraska agriculture and Nebraska agribusiness. See the 2012 Award Recipients here.

The New Horizon Award is an award that recognizes individuals 40 years of age and younger who are upcoming leaders in the agricultural industry.

Nominations for both awards are due by July 15, 2013.  The nomination forms and more information can be found in the links below or by e-mail at
